ATSF B40-8W 533 is on the point of a high priority intermodal passing through Tehachapi, CA on a gloomy January 1991 morning. Later in the day this train will finish its westbound trek in Richmond, CA with loads for the SF Bay Area. It's images like this that make me appreciate digital technology all the more. Low light, fast trains and film were not a good combination and working with such scans makes me thankful for modern high ISO speed capable digital cameras. Even in lousy weather one can keep a fairly high shutter speed and yet retain adequate depth of field. (Just my $0.02. - steps down from soapbox)
