20 years ago this month, ATSF "Kodachrome" SD45u 5331 reaches Summit CA as the lead unit in a Kodachrome "sandwich" in early May 1989. The same unit is pictured farther down in this gallery as it appeared after it had been repainted back to the standard blue and yellow. The AT&SF Kodachrome units which were in service were all repainted back to standard Santa Fe paint by the time the Super Fleet warbonnet scheme (re)appeared, but some Southern Pacific Kodachrome units remained around for many years (the SP 7430) was still in SPSF colors in Tucson in October 1992.
