ATSF 552 and 147 west of Vaughn, NM in October, 1995.

ATSF B40-9W 552 and GP60M 147 are on the point of an eastbound stack train west of Vaughn, NM in October 1995. Trailing the two warbonnets are two six axle units which foreshadowed the 4 axle units' replacement with the fleet of six axle C44-9W's in the not too distant future as the intermodals were getting longer and heavier. It's ironic that 15 years later (2010) BNSF is testing A-1-A AC configurations with 2 of six axles being idler wheels.
