ATSF SDF45 5954 is the trailing unit on the stack train near Ash Hill, CA in May 1993 (seen from the front in the previous image). The big cowl units had poorer vision to the rear than "standard" units which meant that they were usually relegated to a trailing unit. Since today's wide cab units are not cowl units their rear vision is not impaired.
