ATSF C30-7 8064 heads downhill after duty as a mid-train helper on an uphill east bound freight. It is heading into the Tehachapi loop on its way back to Bakersfield in April 1987. The unit sports a nice coat of paint and will continue to serve SantaFe until June of 1994. After that it will become a real boomer going to Conrail, NW, Helm, converted to a "C36M" and leased to UP as UP 582. Its final destination was Brazil where it still may be in service. Notice the happy campers behind the left side of the locomotive. The upper part of the loop was a popular railfan viewing point until after SP's takeover by UP.
