Conrail SD40 6291 is part of a 2 unit helper set which has just shoved an empty coal train up the hill from Altoona to Cresson, PA in late December 1987. This unit came to Conrail from the Central of New Jersey. Upon being retired from Conrail it became part of EMD's lease fleet and was subsequently rebuilt to SD40-2 specifications, becomming Union Pacific 4770 in 1999 and then 2820. Upon retirement from the Union Pacific in 2002, it again became an EMDX lease unit (EMDX 2820). It has returned as a short term peak power lease unit several times and is still in service painted in armour yellow with EMDX reporting marks.
