Utah Railway's leased MPI SD40M-2 rolls past Thistle, UT in May 1991.

Leased MPI units lead by MPI SD40-M2 9015 roll their westbound Utah Railway coal train past Thistle, Utah in May 1991. Thistle was erased by "Lake Thistle" in the 1980's. The lake was formed as the result of backed up water behind a massive landslide. The railroad was closed for months as a new higher line and tunnel through the slide was built. The lead unit, the 9015 was formerly Union Pacifc SD40 3072 which was rebuilt to SD40-2 standards along with several other units by Motive Power International (Morrison Knudsen). The 9015 was sold to Helm Leasing in 1996 where it became HLCX 9015 and became a boomer working as a lease unit on several railroads.
