The same train as in the previous frame, Southern Pacific SD9's 5484 and 5477 are helpers on an interesting consist at Tehachapi on May 22, 1956. Notice the "put-put" following the train and the searchlight signal turned 90 degrees to the track. (Perhaps the semaphores were being replaced here at that time.)
