Union Pacific 4-8-4 8444 passes through Victorville, CA on its way to the 50th
Anniversary celebration of the opening of the Los Angeles Union Passenger Depot.
The 8444 was originally the 844. Unlike the 3985, it has never been off UP's roster.
When GP30 844 arrived, the 4-8-4 was renumbered 8444. When the GP30 left UP's
roster, the 844 got its orignal number back. For sometime the 844 has been
undergoing a complete rebuild.
