UP SD40-2 3781 leads an eastbound through Motanic, OR down the grade toward La Grande Oregon in May 1989. This is one of the final trips for the second unit U30C 2940 as it will be retired in June and sold for scrap the following year. UP 3781 was retired in November 2001 after over 20 years of service and sold at auction in June 2003. Its number now belongs to an SD70M.
