Union Pacific SD60M 6321 has just crossed the Boyer river near Dunlop, IA in July 1993. The Boyer river parallels the CNW (now UP) in this area and also flooded earlier that summer. The bridge also shows the reason for the traffic bottleneck between Missouri Valley and west Denison, IA. During the Heinemann era this roughly 50 mile stretch of double track was single tracked. The re-routed flood traffic caused an operating migrane headache on this stretch of railroad because sidings were few and far between.
