Union Pacific 7814 approaches the Riverside Metrolink Depot on April 28, 2009..

Union Pacific C45AC-CTE 7814 has just left Union Pacific trackage at West Riverside (BNSF - tenth street) and has entered BNSF rails where, because of the track it is on, it will probably get off at Colton and head east on the Sunset Route. The rear of the train that is visible on the right is still on UP rails. Meanwhile after crossing all BNSF tracks, the train is approaching the Riverside Downtown Metrolink depot on April 28, 2009. This locomotive is just over one year old, and being energy efficient is preferred power during the downturn. Meanwhile, a short distance away at Colton, well over 100 locomotives are stored due to the economic downturn. While many of the stored units are older SD40-2's, SD60's, SD60M's and C40-8's, even SD70M's less than ten years old are idled by the recession as well. This stack train has only two lead units, but another C45AC-CTE is pushing on the rear as distributed power.
