Union Pacific "Fast Forties" 8059 8061 and 8028 lead DDA40X "Centennial" 6910 eastbound near Sidney, NE in March 1980. Union Pacific ordered a group of SD40-2's geared for 80mph so that they could keep up with the Centennials. They were classified as SD40-2H's (highspeed). However they were subsequently regeared back to normal 62-15 gearing and renumbered in the 3000 series.
