Union Pacific C36-7 9024 backs to its train at La Grande, Oregon in August 1993. The 3600 hp C36-7's were originally purchased by the Missouri Pacific after the UP/MP merger. They were painted armour yellow, but had Missouri Pacific lettering. They, along with the MoPac SD50's were the beginning of UP's higher horsepower fleet upgrade after the 3000hp SD40-2/C30-7 era. By mid 2001 they too were retired, replaced by 4300 hp units. Most of these units are now earning their keep in Estonia, regauged to broad gauge.
