Union Pacific C40-8 9228 is the final unit of this five C40's eastbound at the oil fields below Borie, WY late on a November 1988 day. At this time these locomotives along with EMD SD60's were starting to displace the SD40-2's and the C30-7's from their roles as premier power. The SD40's would continue to soldier on while the C30's would soon leave the roster.
