Union Pacific C40-8W 9399 has a General Electric Logo instead of the UP Shield on its nose as it passes near Hadsell, WY in May 1991. This unit was probably initially a warranty protection unit for the 1990 final order of C40-8W's. The next order was for C41-8W's. This locomotive, along with the last other units of the 1990 order was also redesignated C41-8W although it was ordered as a C40-8W. The next locomotive in the order, UP 9400 was General Electric's 1000th dash 8 locomotive.
